How do you know if you need assistance with stress relief?

The Stress we are talking about here is the not the good stress that gives you the lift you need to achieve a short term goal.
The stress we are talking about is the “NOT GOOD” ongoing and unrelieved stress which is harmful to health, relationships and business.

One of the big challenges with stress is that it builds in a way which is often invisible until we are in its grip. Even then we don’t recognise that we are under "stress”, and may laugh off suggestions of stress from caring friends and colleagues.

Check the list below - do any (all) of these apply to you?   If yes, then try our stress remedies, and seek professional help to remove the stressor permanently.

Stress Checklist

  • Regularly walking, eating or working in a rushed way.
  • Regularly thinking and worrying about the past or future.
  • Frequent tension in the body (esp. neck, face, shoulders, back and chest, and stomach) which often goes unnoticed until one slows down, breaths deep and carefully surveys the body. At extreme levels this may lead to neck pain, upper back pain or throbbing headaches.
  • Feeling of the "weight of the world" on your shoulders.
  • Emotionally "on edge."
  • Regular tiredness during the day.
  • Significant need for outside stimulation to feel good (coffee, sweeteners, food, sex, TV, alcohol, money, accomplishments, etc.)
  • Snapping or temper loss over trivial issues
  • Waking up worried in the middle of the night

Stress Relievers

  • Talk to an independent person about what is on your mind. A clear view/perspective may give you the insight you need into what is the cause of your stress. Once you have the cause, you are more than half way to the solution
  • Get a massage to relive body tension.
  • Go for a long walk in nature, the beach or a forest. Not only will this get much needed oxygen flowing through your body and brain , it may also give you a sense of perspective.
  • Get coached on a pathway to a solution on the core issue
  • Check if one of your values is being dishonoured by your current circumstances / activities and plan a change.  If you dont know what your values are talk to us about a values elicitation or download our Values workbook - Living Your Values Centered Life
  • See a funny movie / show.  If you don’t have time, then go to You Tube and find one. We like the Natalie Imbruglia Torn mime for this though there are so many examples, you probably have your own favourite.
  • Have a holiday away from your stress environment - No phone and no laptop allowed on holiday!
  • Practice Yoga or get into deep breathing
  • Listen to a Relaxation CD. We use Jan Sky’s Discovery CD with our coaching clients – It works so well we keep it in stock.
