MultiPanel is an ideal core material to use when constructing doors. The finished door is much lighter than if it were timber, allowing for greater weight savings.
A customer has requested a MultiPanel door, 1230mm x 630mm, with a laminate finish to match their existing. They are really keen to reduce any excess weight, so the door is just the first part of their testing phase.
When making a door, use timber around the edge - this will serve three main purposes:
• Provides strength
• Will keep the door straight and true
• Provides a grain for a hinge, door handle, or lock to be installed
The MultiPanel and timber is all butt joined, glued using MultiPanel PU adhesive and clamped together.

Wipe away any excess glue from joins and then you are ready to apply the laminate simply using contact adhesive or polyurethane adhesive. MultiPanel is such a great panel because it's so versatile, it has wide applications in so many industries. Using MultiPanel for door construction is yet another example of this.
The above recommendations will prevent issues with bowing and screws coming loose.
