It was a fabulous opportunity and honour to be approached by Queensland schools to supply MultiPanel for the marine challenge 2009. With six schools all competing for top prize, the competition has been fierce but win or lose the benefits to everyone involved were obvious - “It is great to see school communities, industry partners and students collaborating on a common goal for the future of digital manufacturing in our state and Australia's prosperity" said David Oswald from King’s Christian college.

MultiPanel is proud to be a sponsor of The Gold Coast Digital Manufacturing Marine Challenge. It is a Workplace Excellence Program funded by the Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry and the Department of Education, Training and the Arts. Our high density polyurethane sheet material is ideal for CNC Plug production. These plugs were used for the creation of moulds from which each of the twelve schools manufactured their carbon fibre RC boat hulls and Polycarbonate decks. MultiPanel supplied 30mm sheets to the schools so that students are current with the latest standards in modern manufacture.

All six schools’ remote controlled boats were judged by a Riviera Marine representative for the opportunity to further represent in the Gold Coast Digital Manufacturing Marine Challenge (GCDMMC). Congratulations to the winners Kings Christian College with their winning boats ‘Predator’ and ‘Titan.’ The race day was amazing and Kings Christian College worked as a team to secure a victory amidst some very fierce competition. Well done to all challenge schools.

MultiPanel is really proud to be involved in such a great initiative, “it really does give the kids a taste of the marine and digital manufacturing fields and as well as being part of creating a terrific final product. Being exposed to the future of Australia’s marine designers and manufacturers is one of the many positives MultiPanel can take away from this terrific story”, said Brenton Russo, MultiPanel’s General Manager.
