Wednesday 16th March saw the sky brilliant blue as the sun shone over
the streets of Melbourne. Joining me under the Real Women Australia banner were Evangeline, Joanne,
Samantha & Joanne from Curvy
Revolution and one of our customers Claire - the occasion - an important day in the history of plus-size
fashion in Australia.
ENTER City Chic at LMFF Sidewalk Show - Federation Square - woo
hoo!!!
It was a real pleasure to have the opportunity to
support the industry and cheer as the gorgeous models strutted their stuff on the runway in Federation
Square. The production was A+, big screens with great music and a very well put together show.
Sally Chatfield opened the show with a powerful song and accompanied by some curvy model dancers.
The crowds that had gathered enjoyed every minute. City Chic
winner Lola and her guest Summer (both plus-size US based models) also featured on the runway and were
fierce! I had had the pleasure of communicating with Sommer over the past year about her True
Sheroes project, and it was fabulous to have an opportunity to meet her in person and discuss her
work.

I was invited to the "after-party" and my guests and I enjoyed an opportunity to congratulate all involved
as well as mingle with staff and guests of City Chic for a few hours. I also had a chance to
meet Dani Mezza (whilst she flitted around
doing her thing), Dani is a well acomplished blogger & photographer and I've always enjoyed reading
her work. It was a real pleasure to see her doing what she does best.
The whole day was a fanastic opportunity to stay true to our mission:
- To empower curvy
women to embrace their curves
- To promote healthy lifestyle
- To advocate & support
the growth and development of positive body image
- To support, encourage and add value to the
plus-size industry
- To educate & remain passionate about pushing the boundaries
This is just the beginning, let's keep it real. I'd love to see some more varying,
identifiable body shapes and sizes up on the catwalk, size 14-18 just doesn't cut it or represent
curvy women on the street now does it?...
Real Women Australia
spokeswoman Janine Mison said the runway show was a positive sign for larger-sized women.
"Although
the fashion industry are accepting that we're moving a little bit, I think there's a lot more room to
move," she told AAP."
Congratulations to everyone involved
in puting curvy women's fashion in the spotlight where it belongs!
...and within a week daylight saving will be over and we'll be dragging out our Autumn/Winter clothes
again.

Euro
floral nightie is just perfect for me, I LOVE the print but if that wasn't enough to hook me in, the
feel of the heavy cotton/spandex on my skin was fanastic! The design is flattering, super comfy
and the final check box for me is that it is Australian made & designed.

This month we had a lunch get together to farewell our gorgeous Curvy
Revolution model Kate who is relocating with her hubby Ed and gorgeous 3 month old baby Ellie to the
UK. Kate is excited about the opportunities in the UK and we look forward to supporting her in her
new location. FAREWELL, good luck and we'll miss you!
Our beautiful Shasta
had lots of news this month, she announced that she also is heading to the UK with her hubby
and one year old Zafa AND she has just announced that she is expecting her 2nd baby in October - WOW Shasta
you certainly know how to make a year memorable. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS
also goes to Devon La Salle, plus-model & blogger, and Victoria, owner of Big
In Black. These two ladies worked together to lobby for the removal of a seriously offensive
facebook page and ensure an apology to the young girl who was unacceptably and publicly bullied
at a youth festival recently. These two ladies, along with others, worked tirelessly to ensure
