Recently the bus review by State Government body Translink has
been released and there are impacts to many of the bus services within Parkinson Ward.
Brisbane City Council DO NOT set the bus routes or timetabling - it is the
State Government, however I welcome your feedback so I can continue to advocate on your behalf.
Having lived in our local area for three decades I have personally encountered how our bus services have
grown with our community and I do not support cuts to these services.
I encourage you to forward this E-News on to all of your contacts so they can consider
impacts the changes may have on them for work, their children who may need to get to school or university,
or other members of their family or friends who may need to access nursing homes, hospitals or even connections
to rail services.
I have endeavoured to provide a short summary
of some of the changes for most Parkinson Ward bus routes below but I encourage everyone to look into
the detail of the bus routes they use and the changes proposed.
Cr Angela Owen-Taylor
Councillor for Parkinson Ward

ROUTE 100
View
Route Map.
This route will no longer be included in the frequent network and will
be replaced by 2 other services. The new services will not pick up from Grand Avenue and late night travel
for people working in the CBD or accessing universities may be impacted due to proposed reduction in services.
ROUTE 101

Residents of Doolandella will no longer be able
to access Blunder Rd without changing to a second bus which is likely to extend travel times. Nor will
residents be able to access Corinda any more.
ROUTE 118

Route Map.
This proposed change removes services from Heathwood as
no longer will the bus route go via Parkwood Drive and residents living to the south of Forest Lake Blvd
in the Grand Avenue precinct will no longer be able to directly access a bus to Garden City or Griffith
University unless they catch another service from Forest Lake Blvd.
ROUTE 130
This route will remain part of the frequent network but will now
be referred to route #21 ALGESTER TO CITY however it is likely to be more congested as more commuters
are diverted to this service after the proposed removal of other services in Algester and Calamvale
ROUTE 131

Route Map.
Changes to this route will disadvantage people
living on Algester Rd and requiring access to Algester State School via Endiandra St as the route will
be diverted via Ridgewood Rd not permitting travel to or from the Domain Raffin Place Aged Care
Facility. Additionally residents living in the vicinity of Delathin Rd will have to go all the way to
Algester Rd /Beaudesert Rd Intersection to access this service. This route will no longer travel
past Cazna Gardens Retirement Village which will have impact on elderly residents wanting to access local
services. Further it will travel via Southbank to different stops within the CBD.
ROUTE

The reduction of this service will disadvantage residents who live in the precinct
around Delathin Rd Algester or need to access the Cazna Gardens Retirement community. This
route will no longer travel to Garden City.
ROUTE 135

This route is to be replaced by two others with changes as to where the routes
go between Algester and Robertson, this change will also make it more difficult for residents in the Delathin
Rd Algester precinct to access services.
ROUTE 136

This service will be removed and there will no longer be access
to Garden City nor travel via Formby St or Nottingham Rd which will disadvantage a significant number
of residents who live around Calamvale Community College and within Lakewood Estate. Translink expect
residents to utilise the new #21 service which replaces the existing 130 service.
