Eating well does not have to
mean extreme changes to your eating
and shopping habits; it is not about fad diets or tricky recipes. Eating healthier starts with taking
the first steps and making small changes to what you are already doing, such as adding an extra vegetable
to your meal or snack.
The Department of Health and Healthy Together Greater Dandenong have launched
the ‘Start with’ campaign to encourage residents in Greater Dandenong to take steps towards
better health this winter.
The ‘Start with’ campaign is part of a comprehensive effort
to create opportunities for healthier eating where we live, learn, work and play.
If you would
like to receive posters and postcards to support the promotion of this important healthy lifestyle message
please contact us at healthandwellbeing@cgd.vic.gov.au

What do children know about being healthy?
Talking
to kids about health doesn’t have to be a boring lecture.
Our colleagues over at
Healthy Together Knox have been working hard to find resources that Early Years Services can use to get
children and families talking about health.
They have put together a wonderful list of books,
activities, websites and more to help.

information about the latest news, dates, training opportunities and resources for you to check out.

Children article in Council's The City Magazine (p.14)! Thank you Spring Parks Primary School for

school), and encourage school children to walk to and from school more often. Last year more than 14,000
students from 151 primary schools in 53 Local Government Areas (LGAs) took part in Walk to School through
the month of October. This year Walk to School will take place during the month of November.
