Created 2 Print Launch June 23rd

We would like to congratulate Created 2 Print on a successful launch of the new brand.

Formerly Cruikshank Rapid and Printak, the friendly team at Created 2 Print put on a fantastic night of yummy food and drink, along with great company and plenty of industry "talk".

The wild weather didn't deter people from the outing, and there was certainly a buzz in the factory with customers and suppliers equally impressed by the set up and capabilities of this established city printer.

The new SKY pouch machine range

When it comes to pouch machines, you really do get what you pay for.  Quality pouch laminators such as the SKY range not only produce an excellent result, they run faster and offer a more consistent heat than cheap machines on the market.

Each machine we import and sell gets checked and tested by our qualified staff before sale, which guarantees a good result first time around.

Laminating films for different applications

 

Over the years, our range of laminating film has grown greatly resulting in importing from various suppliers large amounts of BOPP, Polyester and Cold Films for all kinds of applications.

Not sure of the difference or which film you need? Check out our handy facts below:

Thermal BOPP - Biaxially Orientated Polypropylene with thermally activated glue

• Used for commercial laminating
• Referred to as celloglazing or plasticoating
• For laminating on one or two sides of a sheet
• Light weight (29 to 45microns)
• Very little memory therefore minimising curl on a single sided document.
• Common product for laminating business cards, book covers, folders and packaging
• Cost effective and fast to run
• Instantly lifts colours and adds value to a printed sheet
• Available in gloss, matt, anti-scuff and digital

Thermal PET Polyester with thermally activated glue

• Used for encapsulation
• One offs to large volumes
• Offers protection and rigidity to documents
• Very strong memory therefore must be laminated on two sides of the sheet
• Common product for laminating menus, diary covers, posters and presentation work
• Various weights including 43, 76, 80, 125, 150 and 250 micron
• Lifts colours and adds protection to documents
• Available in gloss and matt finish, roll and pouch form

COLD PVC  PVC with solvent pressure sensitive adhesive

• Used for wide format laminating
• Good for outdoor banners and vinyls
• Offers UV and long term protection up to 5 years
• One offs to large volumes
• Monomeric and Polymeric
• Common product for laminating over ACP, Coreflute and SAV
• Up to 1524mm wide
• Available in gloss, matt, lustre, sand and anti-graffiti finish

Mounting to substrates

There are lots of different substrates/backing boards that we can use to display and add value to all types of printed material. We offer the products outlined below as standard, plus there are many other substrates that we can also mount on request including ACP (Alloy Composite Panels), Vincalume sheet metal, plastic sheeting and box board just to name a few.

Foam boards are a very good for display works including art, prints, posters, point of sale and photography. Foamcore is available 5mm thick and in either black or white . An upgrade from Foamcore is GatorBoard which includes hard veneer surface, while it is the same in appearance it's much stronger and will not bow over time. Both of these products are for indoor use only. Usually next day service.

Block mounts are 9mm thick MDF board that is very robust, meaning posters or prints mounted in this way will last a very long time (provided they are laminated too!). There are two edge types available and hangers are included. As the boards have to be cut and painted please allow 3-5 days for production.

Coreflute is a great substrate for short to medium term outdoor signage and displays. Being completely waterproof, it is not bothered by the weather. It can also be fitted with eyelets or hangers. Usually next day service.

Alana's adventures - she's back

As many of you now know, I returned to work in June from my epic adventures in South & Central America. But in case you've lost track of where in the world the last five months have taken me, here's a summary:

Countries visited:  11 in total. Argentina > Bolivia > Peru > Ecuador > Colombia > Panama > Costa Rica > Nicaragua > Honduras > Guatemala > Brazil

Highlights: Four days trekking the Inca Trail, surviving Dead Woman's Pass and the nauseating effects of high altitude, was one of the most physically demanding things I've ever attempted. I know it is cliché, but reaching Machu Picchu made it all worth it in the end. An awe-inspiring display of engineering, art, architecture and astronomy in the middle of the Andes.

Santa Marta (Colombia) and Utila (Honduras) were pretty simple stops on my trip aimed at one thing scuba diving! Eat, sleep, dive, repeat, was the order of the day and I had some impressive dives including shipwrecks, turtles, manta rays, barracuda and nurse and hammerhead sharks. Unforgettable!

Ecuador equals Peru for my favourite country for two main reasons: The Amazon and The Galapagos Islands.  I spent a week in each and neither failed to impress.

Heading into the Amazon wanting to spot a giant anaconda was probably a recipe for disappointment. On this river, whose sheer size is legendary, it was the small things that made it special - canoeing through a flooded forest, waking to the cry of howler monkeys, admiring the towering trees and tiny insects, swimming with pink river dolphins.

While my budget took a massive hit for my time on the Galapagos, it was worth it for the fascinating unique wildlife. There are not many different varieties, just a few special ones. The snorkelling was world class -  not enough on its own to fly all the way to Ecuador then another 1000km out to sea, but I don't know where else you can snorkel in such close company with sea lion pups.

I was sad to say goodbye to this lovely continent. It's such a great place to travel and has so much to offer. There is plenty I've yet to discover; Patagonia is somewhere I want to explore, so that has got to be part of my next trip there, along with Mexico and more time in Central America but having said that Africa is also calling my name.  For now though, it's a sorrowful goodbye to exotic cultures and hello to the reliability of Radelaide.
