Co-Curricular Assembly
Last Friday we held our Summer Co-Curricular Assembly where a significant number of students were rewarded for their outstanding contributions to the College's Co-Curricular Program. It was a wonderful celebration of all the learning opportunities offered beyond the traditional classroom; on the sporting field, the stage and by participating in our overseas tours and trips. So much rich learning occurs by participating in such activities and this compliments what students are taught in the classroom.

Twilight Fair

This year's Twilight Fair proved to be an outstanding success once again in its rejuvenated format. The support from the Rostrevor community was first class with a large attendance joining in the spirit of the occasion.

Events such as this also provide us with the opportunity to showcase the talents of our students. The quality of the musical performances was exceptional.

Without community support events such as this would not be possible. The hard work and dedication of our Parents' & Friends' Association and College staff played a significant role in its success. To all those who helped, a big thank you for your contribution.

Once all expressions of interest have been received, an information evening will be scheduled early in Term 1 next year.

Year 12 Graduation Ceremony

Our Graduation events are wonderful celebrations marking the end of compulsory schooling for our Year 12 students. It is fantastic to see students and their extended families so happy, so proud and probably, so relieved that it is all over! Not a single young man graduates from Rostrevor without significant sacrifice by himself and his support network, which in most cases includes his parents or carers. We say "thank you" to parents and carers for your trust and support of Rostrevor throughout this journey.

On Wednesday evening we attended the Year 12 Graduation Dinner at the Entertainment Centre. It was great to re-engage with students and families after the final assessment period. Our Special Guest was Tom Hector (Class of 2008). On Thursday morning we celebrated the Graduation & Valedictory Ceremony in Purton Hall. This was a wonderful occasion for the Graduating Class of 2018 and their families where we offered a final farewell and blessing.

SACE Stage 2 Examinations and Results Release

The SACE Stage 2 Examinations have concluded. No doubt, this can be a stressful time for some, however, I am sure that commitment to study allowed students to reap the rewards. In general, students have been very positive and should be proud of the way they conducted themselves not only during the examination period but throughout the year.

SACE Board results will be released on Tuesday 18 December. Students will be able to access their results online via the SACE Board website. The boys have been encouraged to log into 'Students Online' using their SACE Registration number and PIN well prior to the results release data to ensure that they can gain access.

We wish our Class of 2018 all the very best with their final SACE results.

Co-Curricular News

First and foremost, I would like to congratulate Mr. Bill Trewartha and the First XI Cricket Team on their tremendous recent success. For those unaware, the First XI team were recently crowned State Champions of the T20 Messenger Bowl Tournament, a feat which hasn't been achieved by a Rostrevor First XI team since 2009. I won't spoil Mr. Trewartha's weekly recap below, but would like to again acknowledge the time, effort and commitment from the players and Mr. Trewartha. I witness first-hand the amount of planning and organisation that is present during trainings and matches and can't fault the commitment of all team members on a weekly basis. They are a fantastic reflection of the Co-Curricular culture we want at Rostrevor College, and deserve every success that comes to them. They have some very strong foundations in place for the future, and I'm very excited to see which achievements will follow over the next two or three years.

In the blink of an eye, approximately half of our Middle & Senior Teams have now finished their seasons for Term 4, 2018. This also signals the end of an era for a number of Year 12 students who may have still been participating in their respective teams. I would like to thank them for their efforts either this year, or during their entire tenure at Rostrevor College. The impact that some of these gentleman have made has been truly remarkable and will leave a memorable impression upon students reaching their final years in 2019 and beyond. I wish them all the best for their future endeavours, and look forward to hopefully hearing of their achievements as they begin to navigate their way into the 'real world'.

As a College, we anticipate the final weekend of Co-Curricular programs will bring an abundance of positive outcomes and a focus on pride, sportsmanship and respect. Best of luck to all boys representing Rostrevor College this weekend.

Community Notices

Whilst the Australian summer is in the grip of Cricket fever, getting under way at Rostrevor College Big Memorial Oval, the sentimentalists are gathering to play a T20 Cricket Fundraiser at their alma mater, rekindling old rivalries on the pitch to raise awareness for the College Foundation as well as fundraising.

The event will be held in the beautiful surroundings of Rostrevor College.  The T20 Cricket game will capture the great sporting culture of the College by getting our community and old scholars involved.

We hope you get behind the Foundation and begin 2019 with a SIXER!

The format of the event is as follows:

  • get together a table of 10 people, purchase your table
  • from each table you will nominate 2 players to participate in the T20 from 1pm to 4pm
  • playing shirts will be provided for players
  • players are required to bring their own cricket whites
  • all other equipment will be provided by the College (unless you have a favourite bat & baggie!)

Principal Brian Schumacher and Director of Junior Campus Geoff Aufderheide will be the 'Coaches' of the 2 teams.  The winning team will have the following advantages:

  • table winners based on the 2 player aggregate runs
  • bragging rights
  • a perpetual cup presented to them
  • the losing Coach will cook a BBQ for the winning campus on a school day to be advised

Early Bird Tickets are $100pp (early bird price closes 21 December 2018) or Full Price $125pp after this date.  Ticket sales open Monday 19 November 2018.
