Chelsea Brewer is a newly Red Seal Construction Electrician, who resides in Fredericton, NB. Upon graduating high school in 2013, Chelsea took a year off to work and decide on a career path. Growing up in a supportive trades family, Chelsea was exposed to various trades such as flooring, electrical, drywall and ventilation. Knowing that she didn't like the idea of having a desk job, it was a natural choice for her to pursue a skilled trade. Upon completion of the pre-employment program at NBCC Moncton in 2015, Chelsea was hired by McPhee & Company Electrical Contractors, where she has remained and progressed through her apprenticeship.

NEW BOOTS NEWS

New Boots upcoming Annual Summit will explore recruitment and retention of women in skilled trades from an employers and tradeswomen perspective.  Starting at the Delta Saint John, participants will hear from the honorable Trevor Holder, Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, before enjoying a lunch featuring a panel of employers and journeypersons. Participants will then spend the afternoon attending 2 workshops before proceeding to NBCC Saint John for an evening reception and a VIP walkthrough of the Skills Canada NB (our conference partners) competition grounds.  This event is shaping up to be a full day of interactive learning and networking. Chelsea Brewer, de Fredericton, N.-B., vient d'obtenir son Sceau Rouge Électricienne (construction). Après avoir terminé ses études secondaires en 2013, Chelsea a pris une année de congé pour travailler et décider son cheminement de carrière. Ayant grandi dans une famille des métiers, Chelsea a été exposé à divers métiers et tâches tel que plancher, électrique, cloison sèche et ventilation. Sachant qu'elle n'aimait pas l'idée d'avoir un emploi de bureau, c'était un choix naturel pour elle de poursuivre un métier spécialisé. À la suite de son programme au NBCC Moncton en 2015, Chelsea a été embauché par McPhee & Company Electrical Contractors, où elle est restée depuis et a progressé à travers son apprentissage.

ACTUALITÉ DE NOUVELLES BOTTES

Le prochain Sommet annuel de Nouvelles Bottes explorera le recrutement et la rétention des femmes dans les métiers spécialisés d'un point de vue des employeurs et des femmes de métier. Commençant la journée au Delta Saint John, les participants entendront l'honorable Trevor Holder, Ministre de l'Éducation postsecondaire, Formation et Travail, avant de savourer un dîner avec un panel d'employeurs et de compagnons.  Les participants auront par la suite deux ateliers en après-midi avant de poursuivre au NBCC Saint John pour une réception et une visite guidée VIP du site des compétitions de Compétences Canada N.-B. (nos partenaires de la conférence). Cet événement s'annonce comme une journée complète d'apprentissage interactif et de réseautage.  Assurez-vous d'obtenir votre inscription hâtive, et restez à l'affût pour l'agenda et de la révélation de notre invité VIP!
