MESSAGE FROM NICOLE

Hi everyone

The new bus network has been operational for a few weeks now and I know many people are struggling with the new routes, timetables and stop locations. Council and TransLink's decision not to print paper timetables is appalling, but my office can print timetables should you need one. Please pop in and see us at Fairfield Gardens if you need help.

It remains astonishing to me that the Lord Mayor spent $1.6 billion on a new bus network that sees 15-20% of bus users worse off.

Currently the Metro does not stop in Tennyson Ward, it simply sails by at the Dutton Park Place stop at Harmony Gardens. For residents who live in Annerley, Fairfield and Dutton Park the last kilometre of public transport is the hardest. I’ m working with the adjoining ward Councillor Cr Massey on a petition calling on Council to ensure the Metro stops at Dutton Park Place Station. Not only would this provide a vital connection to UQ for students and staff, but also a fast link to the CBD and beyond. Please sign the online petition here so the Metro stops at Dutton Park.

There are a few hidden gems in the Council Budget since my last e-newsletter. The Walter Taylor Bridge will be rendered and painted in time for its 90th birthday next year, the Annerley Library is getting a new air conditioning system and Dunlop Memorial Park Pool, Corinda is getting a new filtration system. All are practical projects that will benefit our local community.

I hope to see you at one of the great local community events in coming weeks.

Regards, Nicole.

Ps. congratulations to Sherwood SS on the completion of their major OSHC project. The new facilities look amazing and will be a welcome service upgrade for working families.

While there are no major sporting club project this year in the Council Budget, all sporting fields in Tennyson Ward will undergo field rejuvenation works including testing, remediation works, aeration, fertilisation, weed control and pest treatment.
