WELCOME to the Pullenvale Ward March E-newsletter
A message from Margaret,
I am delighted to announce that the Bellbowrie Pool will partially reopen from next
Saturday 5 March. The public can be assured that the pool water quality will be safe as a microbiological
water test has been conducted to ensure bacteriological test results are satisfactory.
Given the
initial estimate was that the complex would not reopen this summer this has been a mammoth effort on the
part of Council officers and lessee Vlad Fodor and I thank them for their hard work. The pools have been
repaired and are ready to go but the reception area and kiosk will not be operational due to the extensive
damage. I would like to acknowledge the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service, CSIRO Pinjarra Hills, Aquapure
and Trisleys for their help in the clean up efforts as well as the many selfless locals who volunteered
to lend a hand.
Vici Australia, Royal Life Saving and Austswim have generously donated learn to
swim and pool equipment as the pool's existing stock was lost in the floods.
The Moggill/Bellbowrie
Neighbourhood Plan has been delayed as a result of the flood. It is important that you have your
say about the future of our suburbs. Please refer to the article below.

Moggill/Bellbowrie District Neighbourhood Plan
Following the January flood event, Council have reviewed the draft Strategy
for the Moggill/Bellbowrie District and have made changes to the extent of the area to be classified as
Low-medium Density Residential (LMR) around the Bellbowrie Shopping Centre. The area to the north and
to the south of the plaza (Birkin Rd and Sugarwood St) have been removed from the proposed LMR area (ie
they will remain Low Residential). The area to the west of the plaza, on the western side of Moggill Road,
will continue to be recommended for change to LMR.
The reviewed Strategy also clearly states that
flooding will continue to inform all planning undertaken by Council, and that as new information about
the types of flooding (river, creek, storm, overland flow, etc) come to light, Council will continue to
use this to further inform planning outcomes.
The 'talk to a planner' event will be on 9
March, 5 to 7:30pm at St Catherine's Church, 3346 Moggill Rd, Moggill. The consultation period
will run until 25 March.
An updated, reprinted Draft Strategy will be delivered to all residents
and land owners shortly so keep an eye on your mail.

PONTOONS
For those residents wanting
to replace pontoons damaged during last month’s floods, you may not require Council approval. Under
an exemption negotiated with the State Government, you will be able to repair damaged pontoons to the
same specifications as the original pontoon without any approval. The exemption only applies to
lawful pontoons damaged during the flood events of December 2010 and January 2011 that were originally
constructed under the relevant Council and State Government codes and regulations. While Council
approval is not required for repairing, replacing or temporarily replacing damaged pontoons, residents
must advise Council of their intentions. If you want to change the location or dimensions of a
pontoon, you must obtain the relevant approvals from Council; Council will fast track these applications
as part of its commitment to flood recovery. Click here
for Council's fact sheet on restoring or replacing a private pontoon.
