Multi Purpose Taxi Program Review
A full review of the Multi-Purpose Taxi Program which
was introduced in 1983 will be undertaken by the Department of Transport Planning and Local Infrastructure
(DTPLI). The TSC is a key stakeholder and will feed information from this group into the review.
The review will be conducted in 2 stages which will include public consultation, likely to occur
mid to late July. We will keep you updated in relation to this.
Staff at Council have begun work with Dandenong Taxis to identify points around the new Council
building for taxi pick up & drop off. The new building covers a city block and it has many public
entrances. We want to find the most comfortable places for everyone to use. Currently there are 15 minute
parking spaces in Thomas and Lonsdale Streets which are being trialled.

The Liberty Swing at Hemmings Park, Princes Highway Dandenong
has been revamped which include easier access. This innovative concept in playground swing equipment
ensures children and adults with a disability can safely and easily enjoy the fun of swinging.
Written instructions on how to use the swing are located at the park and while there you can
also enjoy BBQ facilities, accessible toilets, the skate park and children’s playground.
The Swing requires a MLAK key to be unlocked and fully operational. If you require a
MLAK key you can collect one from one of Council’s Customer Services centres. For more information
