On Friday 30 October 2015 Griffith Business
School celebrated the 10th Annual Alumni Gala Dinner and Awards Night. 300 alumni, friends, industry partners,
staff and students gathered at the Sofitel Brisbane to acknowledge the remarkable achievements of our
graduates and honour the 2015 Outstanding Alumnus Award winners. I unfortunately was unable to attend
the event last minute but I believe it was a brilliant night.
The dinner is always an excellent
opportunity to showcase the achievements of our outstanding graduates, both through the keynote address
and via the Outstanding Alumnus Awards. This year we had the unique situation of alumnus Ms Annabelle
Chaplain filling both the role of guest speaker and winner of the Outstanding Alumnus of the Year Award.
Annabelle was a foundation student of Griffith, joining the first intake in 1975 to begin Modern
Asian Studies. Annabelle has enjoyed a career spanning more than 20 years in investment banking working
in treasury, project and corporate lending roles. She is currently Chairman, Queensland Airports Ltd and
one of Queensland's leading company directors.
Ms Jodie Fox was announced as the 2015 Young
Outstanding Alumnus of the Year. Jodie graduated from Griffith with a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of International
Business in 2004 and has since built a multi-million dollar global empire. Jodie is Co-Founder and Chief
Creative Officer at Shoes of Prey.
Annabelle and Jodie are a credit to the Griffith alumni
community through their exceptional success in their chosen profession and their community and industry
contributions. They join a long list of noteworthy and exemplary graduates who have been recognised by
Griffith Business School in the awards
program. Find out more about our 2015 Outstanding Alumnus Award winners below.
The dinner
also provides members of our alumni community the opportunity to contribute to the Transforming Business
Appeal through the purchase of raffle tickets. The Transforming Business Appeal supports the University
wide Student Futures Fund. The Fund was established to assist students experiencing difficult personal
circumstances to access a university education and graduate successfully.
We raised over
$1200 for the Appeal at the Dinner and the University will match this dollar for dollar. This result would
not have been possible without the support of our event sponsors:

This year's Dinner was the last for outgoing Pro Vice Chancellor Professor
Powell who will retire in January. In a presentation to Professor Powell, Deputy Vice Chancellor
(Engagement) Professor Martin Betts thanked him for his extraordinary leadership over the past 10 and
a half years. I too would like to extend my thanks to Professor Powell for his significant contribution
to and support of the Griffith Business School Alumni Network.

Griffith Business School
graduates reunite at Melbourne City Football Club!
With the 2015/16 Hyundai A-League season underway we are glad to know Melbourne City FC is in good
hands. The team has employed five Griffith University sport management graduates in a variety of roles.
When Sally Freedman started at Melbourne City FC, she quickly established that she was not the
only Griffith alumnus in the office. Sally, who had previously been a tutor at Griffith, was recognised
by David Harris, one of her past students. They then established that Sarah Baker, Melanie Price
and Chloe Wakeling had also walked our campuses.
See our graduates above (left to right): Sally
(Head of Fan Engagement), Sarah (Events Coordinator), Melanie (Fan Engagement Coordinator), David (Cityzens
Coordinator) and Chloe (Receptionist and PA to CEO).
