Jan/Feb kicks, "Kick for Life" and Australian race ranking introduction

Welcome to the first kicks list for 2018.  Hope everyone had some time off over the festive season, and that everyone enjoyed themselves. The reality now is that its back to it for 2018, so here are the next 5 weeks events.

Sat 27th Jan - 6am - New time 22km Newstead kick. Meet at Bright St Kangaroo point, just down from the Story Bridge Hotel. (Refedex Pg 23 Ref C1 Parking should be available on Bright St, or on McDonald St.)  From here we will head out over Storey Bridge to New Farm and Breakfast Creek and return back via Newstead and Roma Street parklands. Breakfast at Storey Bridge. All welcome.

Sat 3rd Feb - 6am - 20km Sandgate to Woody Point. Meet in the Carpark in front of Doug's Cafe on Flinders St at the corner of Second Ave in Sandgate. Out via Sandgate foreshore and Hornibrooke bridge. This is an entirely flat kick. Coffee and/or brunch afterwards in Sandgate.

Sat 11th Feb 6am QLD race day Murarrie Recreational Reserve the first race starts at 6.30am Distances 400m and 10km. This event is the first points race event being held in Australia in 2018, as per the new Australian rankings system that has been introduced this year. Details are at Footbike.com.au - All competitors 16 years and over will receive points towards their Australian ranking at sanctioned points races around the country.  The higher you finish the more points you get. All competitors get a least 1 point. So come along, race other Footbikers, and gain an Australian ranking.

Sat 17th Feb 8am NSW Race Day - Lidcombe Oval Cycling Track Sydney -  first race starts at 8.30am - Distances 400m and 10km.  This is the 2nd points race of the season.  Remember you can participate and gain points at any sanctioned points race event in the country, you just can't win any state titles in any state other than your home state. So, it makes travelling to other events worthwhile.

Sun 18th Feb - 6am - 16-22km - St Lucia Uni kick. Meet on Bright St Kangaroo point, just down from the Story Bridge Hotel. (Refedex Pg 23 Ref C1 Parking should be available on Bright St, or on McDonald St.)  From here we will head out to the University at St Lucia via Coronation Rd, over the green Bridge and back thru West End for Brekkie at the Storey Bridge Hotel.  Bring your Go-card if you decide to avoid the climbs and shorten your distance to 16km, by catching the ferry from the Uni to West End. This shorter kick is great for beginners, and gives you a pleasant interlude on the river ferry.

Sat 24th Feb - 6am 25km - Bat run.  Starting at Bright St Kangaroo point, just down from the Story Bridge Hotel. (Refedex Pg 23 Ref C1 Parking should be available on Bright St, or on McDonald St.)  From here we will head out to South Brisbane, Coorparoo and on to Bulimba.  We'll then catch a ferry across to Teneriffe and come back through New Farm and the Botanical Gardens and then over the Goodwill Bridge back to Kangaroo Point.  Coffee or Brekkie back at the Storey Bridge Hotel. Bring you Go-card or cash for the ferry.
