The kicks scheduled for April/May 19

Who put the turbo boosters on the calendar.  It's April already.

Just a reminder that our "Kickbike 25th year anniversary" tag line for this year is "Never grow old", so if you are posting anything onto social media about your kicking activity this year, then please include the hashtags #nevergrowold and #kickbike25

So, the kicks for the next few weeks, and note the new start times, are,

Sun 14th April 6am Queensland Footbike Race Day 1.2km and 10km Meet at Albert Bishop Park Criterium circuit off Hedley Ave in Nundah. Registration from 6am, briefing and warm up from 6.40am and racing starts at 7am.  First event is a 1.2km individual time trial. 2nd event will be a mass start 10km.
All racing participants must be AFA members, and registration and membership links are at www.footbike.com.au Non AFA members can still race in the 1.2km time trial, but it will be in the Novice category, and will not accrue points towards your Australian ranking. Use the same registration link as above if registering as novice. This is a great way to try Footbike racing to see if it is something that you might enjoy. Please pre-register before Friday 8pm.

Sat 20th April 7am (New Time) 16km from Mango Hill Train Station carpark off Halpine Dr. We will do 1 circuit of the Mango Hill to Kippa-Ring urban Rail trail and return. This is out and back, so shorter distances are possible. Those keen for a longer kick at 24km will then continue on to Petrie station and return. Brunch afterwards at the Mango Hill shopping centre.

Sat 27th April 7am - 24km St Lucia University a challenging kick from Kangaroo point to St Lucia, across the Green bridge and return via Dutton park and West End.  A shorter and much easier option 20km is to catch a ferry from St Lucia to West End. Bring your go Card. Meet at Bright St Kangaroo point, just down from the Story Bridge Hotel. Parking should be available on Bright St, or on McDonald St.  Meet back together for Breakfast or coffee at Story Bridge Hotel.

Sun 28th April Racing starts at 1pm NSW Race Day at Waratah Park in Sutherland down in Sydney.  You are welcome to race here to accumulate points towards an Australian Ranking.  Register at www.footbike.com.au Registration from 12pm.

Sat 11th May 7am - 20km Newstead kick, through New Farm, Brekkie Creek and Roma St Parklands, or the shorter 16km kick out to West End and back. Meet at Bright St Kangaroo point, just down from the Story Bridge Hotel. Parking should be available on Bright St, or on McDonald St.  Meet back together for Breakfast or coffee at Story Bridge Hotel.

Sat 18th May Bunnings BBQ fundraiser at Bunnings Stafford 6.30am till 4.30pm Help the AFA raise funds to cover the costs of providing the race events, and also raise funds to help towards sending a team to the Footbike World Championships in Estonia in 2020.

Initially following the same route through South Brisbane, across the Gateway Bridge and along the Inner City Bypass, we then divert away from the 75km and 110km riders at Suncorp Stadium (rest stop), then continue along the river to UQ at St Lucia before returning through West End along the river route.
