2019 Footbike Nationals and dates for 2020 World Championships

Good Morning everyone.

Our 2019 National Championships is now less than 3 weeks away. Please make sure that you pre-register this week, so that we know how many to expect.  Registration can be done online at footbike.com.au/events. Remember that you need to be a registered AFA member to participate, and if you have not participated at one of our State champs in the last 3 months, then you need to apply to the AFA committee for dispensation.  Otherwise you will only be able to race as a novice.

Event: Australian National Championships
o Date 24th to 25th August, 10am racing starts each day
o Location: Stromlo Criterium Circuit, Stromlo, Canberra
o Distances: Saturday 10am 1.2km individual time trial, 10.30am Novice race 1.2km, 11-30am 10.8km 9 laps
Sunday 10am Novice 3.6km 3 laps 10.30am 42km endurance 35 laps. If there are no Novices racing, then Endurance will start at 10am, so please be there ready for a 10am start just in case.

The organisers will be there from 8.30am both mornings, and assistance in setting things up would be appreciated from as many as possible. Each day will also have a Prizegiving for that day's events, so please hang around, and also help pack up as well.
Rules: will be as per Australian Footbike rules at footbike.com.au
Ranking Points: You will compete for Australian Ranking points in all 3 events, which will be updated and available on the website within 2 weeks of the event.
Novice category races will also be available over shorter distances in between the AFA members racing. This means that non members and newcomers can come along and see what Footbike racing is all about.
Let us know if you have any questions, and looking forward to seeing you there.

2020 World Footbike Championships
The next World Championships have been confirmed in a place called Polva in Estonia and will run from the 16th to 20th July 2020. The following is a copy of their advice:
The 16th of July is the day for arriving and we will have the welcoming event in the evening. The competition days are 17th till 19th of July. All events and the competitions will take place in small town Põlva
There is no airline connection directly to Põlva, so you have 3 option:
- fly to Tallinn, rent a car and drive 230km by car or take public transport (bus or train) from Tallinn to Põlva
- fly to Tartu (very limited number of flights per day) and drive 40km
- fly to Riga (Latvia), rent a car and drive 230km. No public transportation available from Riga
As this is small town and limited accommodation facilities available then it's also good to book accommodation in advance. If you prefer hotel, then we suggest Pesa hotel, that you should book directly from hotel or via booking apps. We will also arrange cheap sleeping bag accommodation in local school.
We will share more details about the competition, arrangements and the agenda in near future.
Although not mentioned in their email, there is usually a farewell function which would be held on the 19th and then probably a breakfast on the 20th before departing for home journeys or onward travel.
Let us know if you are interested in going to the World Championships next year.

Cheers and have an awesome week.
