2018
marks the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. Every year at the
11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, one minutes silence is observed throughout the country in
remembrance of those who lost their lives during war.
This year,
Tennyson Ward will commemorate Remembrance Day with two local RSL services held by the Stephens RSL and
the Sherwood-Indooroopilly RSL.
The Stephens Sub Branch
RSL 2018 Remembrance Day service will commence in Yeronga Memorial Park at 10.30am, Sunday, November 11.
As part of the WW1 Armistice Centenary events, a public "Remembrance Walk" will be held prior to the Memorial
Service along Honour Avenue commencing from the Park Road gates at 9:45am. Along the route, school students
will be calling out the names of the 97 servicemen from the Stephens Shire who did not return. All are
welcome to join the walk. If your child would like to participate, please contact the Stephens RSL on

The Sherwood-Indooroopilly Sub Branch RSL 2018 Remembrance Day service will commence in
Graceville Memorial Park at 10.30am, Sunday, November 11. The RSL are also undertaking a march
for this special occasion. Assembly will be outside the Graceville train station on Appel St at 10am for
a 10:15am march off to Graceville Memorial Park. Everyone is welcome to march.
All are welcome to attend these services to pay their respects to those Australians who lost their
lives or suffered during war and armed conflict.
