There are so many great events on in our local area over coming weeks and I encourage you to get
out and enjoy some wonderful family fun and entertainment. First up is Graceville State
School’s Annual Fete on this Saturday! I hope to see you there and at all the wonderful
events noted below.
Faulkner Park dog off-leash users are welcome to email me at tennyson.ward@ecn.net.au
with their suggestions for the promised small dog-off leash facility. I will be meeting with Council
officers next week to start the planning and design process. Funds are limited, but I hoping they
can be stretched to include new fencing and access gates, seating, doggie bag dispenser, tap and drinking
bowl. If you have any ideas please let me know!
Regards Nicole.

Thank you to all those residents who returned their survey regarding the ‘no right hand’
turn at the intersection of Queenscroft and Luxford Street, Chelmer.
My aim in surveying residents
was to determine whether it was an issue or concern to the broader community. Clearly it is.
Of the 400 surveys dropped 76 residents responded (about 20%) which is pretty high for this type of
survey.
I am currently collating the results, which includes many detailed letters and emails
about the issue. I will update residents with full results via a letter box drop in September.
Be assured no changes will be undertaken without consultation with residents, particularly those who
may be directly affected.

Thank you to all those residents who responded to the Sherwood traffic survey
circulated earlier this year.
The responses highlighted that residents are concerned that the
high level of congestion at the intersection of Sherwood Rd and Oxley Rd is causing cars to rat run via
the back quiet residential back streets of Sherwood to avoid the district roads.
77% of the responses
from residents were generally supportive of some type of traffic calming measures which ranged from yellow
lines through to traditional traffic calming.
I have now asked Council to look at the following
areas of concern:
- a traffic count survey at an appropriate point along Egmont St, Sherwood;
- possible extension of the yellow line at the intersection of Egmont St and Sherwood to the
west of the intersection to increase visibility for residents exiting Egmont St; and
- investigation
of any improvements that can be made to the intersection of Johnston St and Plumer St which seems to be
the main junction point for vehicles rat running thorough the area.
I will keep you up to
date with the outcome of Council’s traffic investigation.
