Welcome to the third edition of Transforming Business, the Griffith Business School Alumni Network (GBSAN) newsletter.

This edition includes a new 'Alumni Spotted' section that features a number of alumni who have returned to campus or been seen at industry events in the past few months. It is great to recognise our alumni for their achievements in their profession and also for giving back to Griffith Business School. As the University focuses heavily on graduate outcomes in 2015, alumni are an increasingly valuable resource for current students to learn more about opportunities available in their chosen field and desirable graduate skills.

I wish to extend a congratulations to alumnus David Lancaster. David who received a First Class Honours degree in Finance from Griffith, has accepted an offer from Harvard University. David will move to Boston in August this year to complete his Master in Public Policy at the John F Kennedy School of Government. Read more of his story below.

I am excited to announce we are holding the inaugural GBS Classic Golf Day on Friday 11 September 2015. This social corporate golf day, held at The Palms Golf Course Sanctuary Cove, will raise funds for the Transforming Business Appeal. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring our network of business leaders together and will hopefully become an annual activity on our calendar. There will be opportunity for alumni to participate on the day and also sponsor the event. If you are interested in the sponsorship opportunities, please email Laura Rattray-Wood. More information on registration will be distributed in the coming weeks.

I look forward to seeing many of you at our first 2015 Gold Coast business breakfast tomorrow morning, Friday 15 May. We are expecting a record breaking crowd with over 100 guests registered to hear alumnus Sonia McDonald from Leadership HQ present 'Confidence - it is so HOT right now'.

Best wishes,

David Morgan
Chair, GBS Alumni Advisory Group

Tully Stanley

GBS alumnus, Tully Stanley returned to the Gold Coast campus last month to see his name proudly on display as part of the Alumni and Friends Donor Wall. Tully graduated in 2010 and is a proud supporter of the Transforming Business Appeal.

"I chose to make a donation to the Transforming Business Appeal as I strongly believe that access to high quality education and facilities should be available for everyone, therefore I am glad that I have been able to contribute to this in some way.

I look back at my Griffith years with fond memories and as some of the best years of my life so far, and am grateful of the long-lasting friendships made, academic relationships forged and the professional development opportunities afforded to me.

I continue to maintain contact with GBS as I hope to assist current and future students to have as great as an experience as I had during my time at Griffith."
Tully Stanley,  BBus/BIntBus

Alumni return to campus for the Business Law Challenge

This evening, Thursday 14 May 2015, six alumni will return to the Gold Coast campus as industry representatives at the inaugural Business Law Challenge.

Tushar Jalan (Senior Consultant, Transaction Tax, Ernst & Young), Sarah Kollenberg (Senior Auditor, Audit & Assurance, Crowe Horwath),  Walter Lomax (Senior Accountant, SV Partners), Megan Stewart (Executive, Vantage Performance) Rachel Thienpont and Jamie White (Advisor, Business Advisory, Crowe Horwath) will showcase to students the different and exciting careers in accounting and the relevance of business law to their studies.

It is brilliant to have these alumni, now working in high profile firms, return to Griffith and inspire current students.
