The excellent work of the Academy continues to flourish at the local
level, as the world of sport takes a huge hit due to the Covid-19 virus. And this is the time for sport
to continue to take a lead in social responsibility and careering for its athletes and followers.
2020 has seen the Academy strengthen its position as the 'number
one' sport development organisation, in the south west Sydney region. And is working hard to maintain
that status.
The Academy already has its plans in place, to continue to support the development of
it's talent identified junior athletes remotely, should Australia's health issues worsen.
An online service will provide athletes appropriate 'body weight' and
'band resistance' training programs, which will incorporate athlete education on correct posture and technique.
And specific programs will be developed for athletes requiring strength, or power in their individual
sport.
The Academy will also provide a sports education
syllabus, from within its ClubsNSW Education Program suite, of sports education subjects. Topics will
include nutrition, sports psychology, sports medicine and injury prevention, integrity in sport and financial
fitness, to name but a few.
The Academy will also engage
its coaching staff in the development of sports skill components, that can be provided remotely.
We always tell our athletes to be prepared, and it is most appropriate
that the Academy practises what it preaches.
I will finish
off by thanking the Academy's 'naming rights' partner the Campbelltown Catholic Club and its Platinum
Partner SOUTH32, plus all of our other corporate partners.
For continuing to support the excellent work of the Academy, in the development of tomorrow's sporting
stars and community leaders.

National
and State Titles for Nakeisha
Competing in the U17's category at the Athletics
NSW Junior Championship, Camden jumping athlete Nakeisha Brimble, has continued her fine form bagging
2 medals! Brimble was dominant in her marque event, the triple jump, claiming yet another NSW Gold. 5.41
metres in the long jump was a pleasing result securing the Bronze. Adding some track sprints to the weekend,
the multi-talented teenager was able to finish 12th in the 200-metre sprint clocking some very credible
times.
Nakeisha is a 3rd year scholarship holder with the South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS)
and was the Academy 'Athlete of the Year' in 2018. She was very pleased with her weekends results crediting
her ever progressing strength as a significant factor. As a SWSAS 'Wests Future Stars' athlete, Nakeisha
receives, athlete education, community engagement opportunity as well as direct financial support from
SWSAS, facilitating access to specialist athlete development services across a broad sphere.
"I have been working really hard both on the track and in the gym, hours and hours of work building
leg strength, core strength and teaching all these muscles to work together is definitely paying off!
Pilates is a weekly thing now. This consistency is sometimes hard to schedule for our family, but I am
happy with the strength I feel".
